'The Race Against Resistance' is a BBC StoryWorks production about the increasing threat of antimicrobial resistance in the development of antibiotics. Discussing how scientists work to stay ahead of increasing resistance to drugs when treating infections in humans. I designed and animated the title and in film graphics, that were then adapted into the wider campaign.
The director – Simon Waldron - wanted to develop the idea of a falling tower of blocks for the title sequence. We used AI to quickly iterate and test potential scenes, then established a route. We then designed and commissioned custom blocks with the names of the drugs and the conditions they are used to treat - to tell the history of antibiotic usage in the sequence.

Professor Jon Stokes in his lab – where they are using AI to test for antibiotic properties at a huge scale. His use of artificial intelligence to identify a new antibiotic was celebrated as one of the most important scientific and technological advances of the year by The New York Times.
